China's Li Na makes history by wining in Final

Li became the first player from an Asian nation to win a grand slam singles title when she beat last year's winner Francesca Schiavone 6-4 7-6 on Saturday having previously been runner-up at the Australian Open final in January.

"She played really deep," Schiavone said. "Everything was going really close to the baseline."

Last year, Schiavone was the one who made history, becoming the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam event. She defeated Li handily in the third round and subdued another hard-hitting player, Samantha Stosur, in the final through wile and guile, mixing up her spins, charging the net and keeping her opponent from getting into a groove.

But she couldn't pursue that strategy so well Saturday, with Li's penetrating ground-strokes, especially her forehand, dictating the pace and often kissing the lines. Li ripped 31 winners to Schiavone's 12.

"It's incredibly special and exciting, I'm thrilled for her. It's great for the sport overall," Allaster told Reuters in an interview at Roland Garros.

"She is a great ambassador, great athlete, great personality, a national hero in China already and the western world is beginning to get to know her and enjoying her as she has great talent on the court and is good fun off the court, She is a star of Asia.''

Li, at 29 relatively old for her first grand slam title, has been cracking jokes throughout the last two weeks at the claycourt grand slam but she was deadly serious on court with her powerful forehand and huge willpower carrying her through.

"I thought I could win [a Grand Slam title], but I never thought it would be on red clay," said Li, who will rise to No. 4 in the rankings.

"I was nervous. I mean, come to the final and so many people watching me," Li said.

Now the total china is under more happiness and they celebrating it more gorgeously.

Today, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will be faced in French Open Tennis Final(Men).
