DUKE NUKEM FOREVER has finally reached shelves across the UK

If there was a singular star in '90s computer games, it was the buff, brazen, beer-drinking and cigar-smoking action hero Duke Nukem. Like Dirty Harry, John McClain, Rambo and any number of Schwarzenegger characters rolled into one profane Neanderthal, Duke battled mad scientists and alien invasions while always getting the ladies.

Duke Nukem Forever has been out for three days but the reviews aren't glowing. Euro-gamer gave the latest in the alien crazed shooter series a miserable 3 out of 10 and said, "Your time and money would be better spent reliving his iconic past than bearing witness to this gruesomely mangled resurrection."

Some other review scores included a 2 out of 5 from gaming web site joystiq, bit-tech gave it a more average 50 out of 100 whilst PCGamer looked more kindly on the king with a score of 80 out of 100.

Though villains couldn't vanquish him, Duke has been stuck in limbo for nearly 14 years, waiting for designers to craft a sequel to 1996's multimillion-selling Duke Nukem 3D. Tuesday, Duke Nukem Forever finally arrives ($60, for PS3 and Xbox 360; $50 for Windows PCs; rated for adults 17-up).

Not only does Guinness World Records 2011 Gamer's Edition list Duke Nukem among the top 50 all-time video characters (No. 27), but the title is also listed as the longest development time for a first-person shooter game (14 years). "That game has been to hell and back" between programming issues and company problems, says Stephen Cameron of video game website XboxAddict.com.

Players have long anticipated this moment. Duke Nukem 3D broke ground as one of the first fully interactive worlds, down to the working soda machines and restrooms (where Duke would blow up the occasional alien sitting in a stall).

Yes, Duke's a bit over the top. "I think Duke Nukem is the ultimate embodiment of what every guy's 13-year-old self wishes he could be," says Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games, developers of the Gears of War series. "Not only is he scoring with all the chicks, he has all the guns and the muscles, the sick house, and he saves the world. He's the man, right? Whether or not a 2011 world is ready for that remains to be seen."

His return was never certain. After spending more than a decade and tens of millions of dollars developing a follow-up, 3D Realms gave up and fired the creative team in 2009. "Not only were they shocked and surprised, but they were there under this context of incredible passion and commitment," says Randy Pitchford, president of Dallas-based Gearbox Software, whose first industry job was working on Duke Nukem 3D.

"There were always issues slowing down release," says Duke Nukem co-creator Allen Blum, who compared the struggle to Captain Ahab's quest for Moby Dick. He and a few others formed a team, calling themselves Triptych Games, and continued to work on it out of their homes. "At what point," he says, "do you give up on your baby?"

Meanwhile, Pitchford began working with 3D Realms and attorneys (publisher Take-Two Interactive had sued 3D Realms for not delivering the game) to acquire the brand and publishing rights.

Longtime fans will get a kick out of the game's conceit: It's a dozen years since Duke saved the world in the events of Duke Nukem 3D. "He's lived the life of a hero" and gotten rich off his fame, Pitchford says. "They were supposed to make a video game about how he saved the world, and it hasn't come out yet."

At the outset of the game, Duke is in his penthouse, being attended to by beautiful women, and finally playing his own game. One asks, "What about the game, Duke, is it any good?"

Duke Nukem Forever's arrival is like the opening of a time capsule, says Martin Rae, president of the industry's Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. "It's almost like a rebellious, weird cousin you love to play with and, wow, he's coming into town. This is going to be cool. I wonder if he is still as outrageous as he was."

According the gaming chart web site the Xbox 360 has most of the format share for the Duke with 56 per cent, ahead of PS3 with 30 per cent and PC with 14 per cent.

We think that gamers will go out and buy the game anyway, even if just because of its history. We think it's bound to do well in terms of sales but if the reviews are correct about the poor game play then maybe it's one of those games that will go in the cupboard and be forgotten.

Selena Gomez is back on stage

Selena Gomez is back in stage after hospitalization for blood pressure issues. She performed a mini-concert in Santa Monica and telling the crowd, "I do feel better, thank you so much!, and welcome to back''.

A source close to the Disney superstar tells E! News the pop princess was "in and out" of a Los Angeles-area hospital over the weekend for tests and checkups, but is doing much better since falling ill and seeking emergency medical attention after last Thursday's "Tonight Show" appearance. "She spent the weekend resting and feels stronger," the insider tells us. "No more nausea or dizziness."

The 18-year-old Gomez apparently suffered from a nasty combination of exhaustion and food poisoning, and her condition was worrisome enough that boyfriend Justin Bieber skipped Friday night's Stanley Cup Finals featuring his hometown team, the Vancouver Canucks.

A rep for the Disney star said that Gomez and her band, The Scene, will go ahead with an afternoon performance today at a mall in Santa Monica as scheduled.

Now ''i am very happy'', Gomez to Justin Bieber.

Next up for Gomez is a more than two-month tour with her band, Selena Gomez & the Scene, and the July 1 release of the romantic comedy Monte Carlo with Leighton Meester, Katie Cassidy and Cory Monteith. "When we started Monte Carlo, I felt like I was going to be the 17-year-old coming over to Leighton and Katie and they weren't going to include me," Gomez admitted. "But I was so lucky. They took me under their wing and are so protective of me."

American film producer Laura Ellen Ziskin Died

Laura Ellen Ziskin (born on March 3, 1950 was an American film producer. In 1990, she was the sole executive producer of the hit comedy Pretty Woman. Ziskin became the first woman to produce the Academy Awards telecast alone in 2002. She repeated the job in 2007) died (12th june, 2011) at her Los Angeles home after fighting the disease for seven years,According to a statement from Sony Pictures.

In 2008 Ziskin, along with other entertainment notables including newswoman Katie Couric, co-founded Stand Up To Cancer, an advocacy group for cancer research. Later that year and again last September, Ziskin produced all-star telethons that aired live on the major U.S. networks.

In addition to making movies, Ziskin also produced the Academy Awards broadcast twice, and served as president of Fox 2000 Pictures, a feature film division of 20th Century Fox.

She was perhaps best known for producing the three "Spider-Man" movies starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. The trilogy grossed $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office. The franchise is currently being overhauled with a new cast and a focus on the superhero's early years.

Among the films Ziskin championed at Fox 2000 was the searingly brutal drama "Fight Club," starring Brad Pitt and Edward Norton. Following an advance screening that left other studio executives bewildered and angry, Ziskin boldly proclaimed it was brilliant, according to author Sharon Waxman's "Rebels on the Backlot."

Still she did blanch at one comical line -- "I want to have your abortion -- and begged director David Fincher to replace it. He reluctantly agreed, but the new line was even more grotesque and she begged him to revert to the old line. He refused, according to the book.

Ziskin, a Los Angeles native who started out as a personal assistant, started making features in the mid-1980s. She teamed with actress Sally Field to produce "Murphy's Romance," a 1985 comedy-drama for which James Garner received an Oscar nomination.

She hired hot young stars Kevin Costner for "No Way Out" (1987) and Dennis Quaid for "D.O.A." (1988), and helped transform Roberts into Hollywood's biggest sensation with "Pretty Woman," the 1990 smash which she executive produced. Ziskin rescued legendary Hollywood scribe Buck Henry ("The Graduate") from a long dry spell by recruiting him to write the adaptation for "To Die For," a dark comedy directed by Gus Van Sant and starring Nicole Kidman.

By the time it was released in 1995, Ziskin was ensconced at Fox 2000 where she also oversaw such films as "Courage Under Fire," "One Fine Day," "Soul Food" and "The Thin Red Line."

In 2002, she became the first woman to produce the Oscar broadcast solo. The show, presented for the first time at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, also marked the first Oscarcast appearance of the Cirque du Soleil acrobatic troupe. She also produced the 2007 ceremony.

She was diagnosed with cancer in 2004, and underwent a mastectomy, chemotherapy, a stem-cell transplant and radiation. The cancer returned in 2009, having spread to her liver and bones.

Sony Pictures said a memorial would be planned. Ziskin is survived by her husband Alvin Sargent, an Oscar-winning screenwriter ("Ordinary People," "Julia") who collaborated on the "Spider-Man" films; and a daughter from her first marriage.

She was 61.

Bret Lockett and Kim K is going to meet in court

Bret Lockett might finally get an opportunity to face-to-face meeting with Kim Kardashian. He always wanted that. But it is in a courtroom....!

Sources close to Kim K tell TMZ, her lawyers are drafting a defamation lawsuit against Lockett and will file it as early as Monday morning.

Kim has maintained all along she never met Bret despite his claims they had a "physical relationship." Harvey hammered Lockett on TMZ Live last week, asking him when and where he met Kim, but Lockett refused to say. Nevertheless, he insisted he and Kim had hooked up this year, after she starting dating Kris Humphries.

But on Friday, Lockett finally fessed up on "Showbiz Tonight" admitting he never actually met Kim.

We're told Kim's lawyers fired off a letter to Lockett in the last few days, telling him to hang on to the so-called "evidence" he has on his "affair" with Kim, because he'll need to produce it in court.

Bret Lockett insisted yesterday that he and celebutante Kim Kardashian had a sexting fling even after the reality TV chick, who is engaged, threatened legal action and called Bret “a loser I’ve never met.”

The King's Speech star Colin Firth is heading to Buckingham Palace just months after collecting an Oscar for his portrayal of King George VI.

The actor will receive his CBE after being recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours. The rank gives him the option to use the letters CBE after his name, but don't call him "Sir" just yet.

Her Majesty plans to give the esteemed these one of Great Britain's highest honors—making him a Commander of the British Empire in her annual Birthday Honors List out Saturday.

Nominations are submitted twice a year by the government and the public to committees of civil servants which then decide on the recipients, including Firth. In business and the City, a knighthood goes to Bank of England governor Mervyn King, while Sainsbury's chief executive Justin King (50) is given a CBE.

Greg Mortenson, the embattled author of 'Three Cups of Tea' has undergone open-heart surgery.

The embattled author of 'Three Cups of Tea', Greg Mortenson, has undergone open-heart surgery nearly two months after reports questioned the accuracy of the book and whether he benefited from the charity he founded, the charity’s spokesperson said.

Doctors discovered an aneurysm, in addition to a hole, in Mortenson's heart that had left him with low oxygen levels, Central Asia Institute acting director Anne Beyersdorfer told the Bozeman Daily Chronicle on Wednesday. Last week, surgeons repaired the hole and tied down the aneurysm, she added.

"We feel very fortunate it did not burst or throw a clot," Beyersdorfer said, declining to say where the operation was performed, except to reveal that it was not in Montana. She said he expected to eventually return to his Bozeman home for a recovery that could take weeks or months.

Mortenson entered a Bozeman hospital soon after the reports surfaced in April alleged he lied about events in his best-selling book. The reports from 60 Minutes and author Jon Krakauer also questioned whether Mortenson financially benefited from the institute and whether CAI built the number of schools in it claimed.

Last month, two Montana lawmakers filed a lawsuit against Mortenson, claiming they were duped into buying the book and donating to his charity based on lies. They are trying to get class-action status for the lawsuit so it can be joined by the millions of people who bought Mortenson’s books.

Beyersdorfer said CAI has hired attorneys for the civil suit, but declined to name the firm. He also said donations continue to come in and that CAI is focusing on building more schools overseas this year.“There is a large population of CAI supporters who have not lost faith,” she said.

Mortenson's foundation has said he will not respond to his accusers until he has regained his health.

Causes for death of Andy Irons

Andy Irons (July 24, 1978 – November 2, 2010) was a professional surfer. The family of surfing legend Andy Irons is adamant the former world champ (32) died as a result of complications from heart disease, and there is nothing else however, the official autopsy report shows drugs were a factor.

Seven months after Irons died in a Dallas hotel room, Andy's family released a statement today explaining Irons died from a heart attack caused by the hardening of his coronary arteries. The family says they spoke with a prominent forensic pathologist who explained Irons had a genetic predisposition to early development of heart disease which was responsible for the heart attack.

Another cause will be "acute mixed drug ingestion", the autopsy from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner .
According to the report, Irons had Xanax and methadone in his system at the time of his death along with Benzoylecgonine a compound commonly produced by the body after cocaine use.

Andy's wife says the surfer did not use meth, "so it is likely the substance was present in the cocaine he ingested.
